Explore Chitwan National Park Through Amazing Wildlife

Chitwan, located in the southern part of Nepal, is renowned for its National Park, a haven for a diverse array of animals and birds, some of which are endangered. Nestled in the lowlands, known as the Terai, Chitwan, meaning the “heart of the jungle,” stands out as one of the premier wildlife reserves in Asia. It provides a habitat for the famous Bengal Tiger and the endangered one-horned Rhino. Chitwan invites you to a remarkable opportunity to witness these incredible creatures while riding on elephant backs. Additionally, you can immerse yourself in the local Tharu village, exploring their culture.

Established in 1973, the Chitwan National Park spans an expansive area of 932 sq. km. The reserve boasts a rich biodiversity, encompassing over 43 mammal species, 450 bird species, and more than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles. Among the inhabitants are Chital, Sambar, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, wild elephants, four-horned antelopes, striped hyenas, pangolins, Gangetic dolphins, monitor lizards, pythons, sloth deer, common leopards, ratels, palm civets, wild dogs, Langur and rhesus monkeys. The park is also home to endangered animals such as the one-horned rhinoceros, Tiger, and the Gharial.

Tour Itinerary Detail

Day 01 Following a bus transfer from either Kathmandu or Pokhara, staff will meet you at either Chitrasari or Tadi and accompany you to the resort where a light refreshment awaits! A full briefing will be given to outline both the facilities and program for the duration of your trip, then your room will be allocated to you.

13.00: Lunch

15.00: Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. Visit the National Park visitor’s centre where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife & Sunset view from the bank of Rapti River.

19.00: Tharu cultural dance presentation(which you will also participate in) by the local villagers or slide show presentation on almost everything under the Chitwan.

20.00: Dinner

Day 02 06.00: Wake up call.

06.30: Breakfast.

07.00: Canoe ride along the Rapti River. An excellent opportunity for Bird Watching, for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles(the marsh mugger and fish-eating gharial)and jungle walk on the way back where one can enjoy the elephant bathing.

13.00: Lunch. 15.00: Elephant Safari – An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear and the Royal Bengal tiger(If you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Royal Chitwan National Park their home.

19.00: Tharu cultural dance presentation or slides show presentation.

20.00: Dinner.

Day 03 06.00: Wake up call.

06.30: Breakfast.

07.00: Visit the government elephant breeding centre.

10.00: Departure for onward journey.
